All-Island Harp-In
Providence Farm
Duncan BC
|When:
Sunday May 15, 2005
|Where:
Providence Farm, Duncan BC
|What:
All-Island Harp-In. A day of
playing ensemble music for players of all levels. While there
won't be "instruction", there will be leadership
by Marilyn Rummel. We'll work through some music that some
people have played before, and some that is new to all.
|Who:
There will be parts at all levels!!! Beginners and experts
most welcome.
|Why:
To have fun, play music together, learn, be inspired.
|How:
Send Marilyn an email to confirm your attendance. If you want
music in advance, just ask. email to: [email protected]
|Cost:
$25 plus a small pot luck lunch dish.
|Schedule:
10:00 set-up, tune-up
10:30 the music begins
12:30 break for lunch
1:15 back to music
2:30 grand play through of all we've learned (visitors welcome)
3:00 pack up and go home.
Where to find Providence Farm
: 1843 Tzouhalem Rd. The key thing is to turn west on Trunk
Rd from Hwy One. Keep following it, go left where it forks
to Maple Bay, and turn into the farm at the sign. map
We'll use the same format
as the one we held last year. Briefly, gather at 10, play
till 12:30, have lunch till 1:15, play till 3. The last 1/2
hour we'll play through everything we've worked on, and visiting
listeners (or listening visitors) will be most welcome then.
We'll play together at least
4 or 5 pieces, which I'll assemble and send out to anyone
who wants to attend.
This is an event for beginners
to professionals. We'll share some good music in a big circle
- there will be options for participation at ALL LEVELS of
expertise.
Lunch will be pot luck - bring
(not too much) food and share. I'll do tea and coffee.
If we are blessed with the
same glorious sunshine we enjoyed last year, there will be
plenty to do for non-harp-playing attendees. The grounds are
enormous, and they have a variety of programs operating on
the farm to have a look at. There are beautiful trees for
reading a book under.
Cost is $25 plus your lunch
contribution. There are a couple of folks from farther north
on the island who might appreciate a bed for the Saturday
evening, so if there is anyone in the Duncan area who could
help out, please let me know that, too.
It was really a wonderful event
last year - hope to see the same great turn-out this year,
so tell your harp friends and come and join us!
Thanks, Marilyn Rummel - [email protected]
