- We provide the technology.
- You provide the recorded music in any number of formats.
- Stephen Vardy manages the technology.
- Your MC, guests and yourself manage the playlists.
- Alison will be playing harp for the reception.
- The speakers will be spread far apart for even sound distribution.
- Alison will be performing in a prime visual location.
- The transition time between harp & recorded dance is flexible.
- Stephen will set his technology close to the eventual dance floor.
- The technology floor-footprint can be as small as 1m x 1.5m (3.5' x 6')
- Tighter squeezes for small venues are a specialty.
- Stephen safely runs cables to various harp & speaker locations.
- Usually during dessert, Stephen unobtrusively contracts the speakers back to the dance floor & the first dance commences anytime after that.
We recommend that the Bride and Groom provide the first 10 dances as a separate playlist (best burned to a CD-R) with its own itinerary as to what each dance is to accomplish.
Sample First 10 Playlist Structure
- Bride and Groom only
- Bride and Groom with parents
- Grandparents - ballroom
- Everybody - slow
- Everybody - medium fast
- Everybody - medium fast
- Cutting the Cake
- Throwing the Bouquet
- Throwing the Garter
- Last dance
We recommend that several friends provide multiple playlists of suitable dance music especially created for you. Get your friends to CHOOSE danceable music from their collection. Playlists work well as a mixture of 3 fast to 1 slow tune. You have the choice to contribute playlists as you wish. Labeling tracks on CDs as fast or slow is a must using 3M Post-it's or a paper list.
With prior notice Stephen can use the following recording formats.
- Laptops - Mac or PC
- iPods - any iPod other than the Shuffle
- CD-R - the disc must play in your standard stereo CD player
Labeling tracks is a must using post-it's or a paper list.
With prior notice Stephen can use the following player technology.
- Laptops - Mac or PC - Creative Xmod USB - improves MP3s
- iPods - 2x iPods using Apple Universal Docks - bring your USB cable
- CD-R - 2x Luxman DZ-122 CD players (1990s) - very warm sounding
It should be noted that lower bitrate MP3s sound flatter and duller at higher volumes. MP3 quality should be as high as possible for best sound.
Stephen will liaise with your MC and the venue manager as the wedding progresses. Inform your MC of your musical desires beforehand and your music will flow seamlessly as both the MC and Stephen communicate throughout the reception. Schedules are often fluid and adjustments are made as needed.
| AVLA Single Event License |
|
Stephen and Alison Vardy are not supplying the recorded dance music content as the playlists are provided by you with Harpsound Audio only providing the rental of amplification technology for you to play your recordings. Your venue is responsible for a SOCAN license for recorded background music play. AVLA makes you as host responsible for a single event dance music license. We can assist with this CAD$50 license application if you wish. (Please note: Canadian copyright legislation is under review in 2010 and these circumstances may change)
